Pixar's Inside Out 3 has received a positive update following the huge success of the second one.
A third chapter of the adventures of Riley and her various emotions hasn't been officially announced, but the folk at Pixar are already talking about what they want to do with the next entry (and possibly beyond).
Speaking to The Direct at the Saturn Awards, Inside Out 2's co-writer Dave Holstein said that story discussion is going on at Pixar, although he did note that it's been "minimal".

"I mean, I would say that we're still enjoying the wave of fun, this second film. But I have no doubt that at some point a third, and hopefully, in my opinion, four through six, seven, eight, Inside Out should happen."
That's a lot of potential sequels, but according to Holstein, the premise of the series (and its lead character) has enough potential to carry on.
"In every new movie, you want the game to change, and every sequel, you want the game to change at its foundation," he explained.

"And what's great about having Riley be the engine of this franchise is that she's going to enter a different chapter of her life where the foundation does change. The things you want in life change, and who you are changes. Your sense of self changes.
"It's a fascinating from a writer's perspective, you're given new fodder to create something cool."
Inside Out 2 came out nine years after the original, but considering it made twice as much money at the box office (and was the highest-grossing animated movie of all time until last month), Disney may not want to leave it as long before releasing a third.
Inside Out 2 is available to stream on Disney+.
