Lifetime's 'UnReal' pulls the curtain on reality TV: Watch

Even though producers said their scripted look at reality TV, UnReal, isn’t based on The Bachelor—nevermind the fact that producer Sarah Gertrude Shapiro used to work on the ABC reality series—there are quite a few similarities in the just-released trailer for the Lifetime series.

Case in point: The theatrical arrivals (on a horse-drawn carriage instead of a limo), the girl everyone hates, the subsequent catfights, the subsequent tears. But this story is focused on the people behind the lens, who—shocker—use the contestants as players in their own twisted game.

UnReal stars Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby), a producer who seems to fall for the bachelor (Freddie Stroma). Constance Zimmer plays the evil mastermind as executive producer Quinn King.
