Calvin Johnson keeps passing milestones and setting new NFL marks to reach. But he’s doing it on a Detroit Lions offense that has completely imploded around one of the best receivers in NFL history.

Johnson passed another significant mark Sunday, reaching 11,000 yards receiving faster than any other player in NFL history – 127 games. But it also came in a half in which the Lions had two turnovers on their first five possessions and with a quarterback, Matthew Stafford, who has more interceptions than any quarterback in the league.

It is that connection with Stafford that has helped Johnson reach all of these marks – they’ve been together for seven seasons now – but over the past two years it has been an offense that has stagnated. The Lions entered Sunday’s game against Kansas City with the No. 20 offense in the league, but with an offense that had just fired its offensive coordinator, Joe Lombardi, and the two offensive line coaches. It’s an offense that hasn’t been good for a while now, either, not since Scott Linehan was running the Lions offense under Jim Schwartz and Johnson was able to shine in the midst of his prime.

Now, the Lions barely go downfield to Johnson and while he’s able to surpass these marks, the Lions' offense looks nothing like it once was.

Johnson eclipsed the 11,000-yard mark on a 17-yard reception in the second quarter, the 31st player in NFL history to surpass the milestone. It came on his second catch of the day against the Chiefs, a pass over the middle.

Johnson now has 11,007 yards. He’s still No. 31 all-time on the NFL receiving yards list, but is closing in on former Cincinnati receiver Chad Johnson, who has 11,059 career receiving yards. By reaching the mark in 127 games, he passed Torry Holt for the quickest to 11,000 yards all-time.
