FUN Union expands Riki brand in UK, North America

New deals with ITV, Kabillion and PlayKids will see BabyRiki, KikoRiki and PinCode launch in these key territories starting this month.
August 20, 2018

Producer/distributor FUN Union has inked a raft of new broadcast deals for the educational Riki kids universe in the UK and North America. Created by Saint Petersburg Animation Studio, the Riki brand includes BabyRiki, KikoRiki and PinCode. The studio is owned by Saint Petersburg, Russia-based multimedia company Riki Group.

FUN Union has signed an exclusive deal with UK broadcaster ITV for season one and two of the mixed-media preschool series BabyRiki. The 52 x five-minute show will launch on ITVBe’s LittleBe preschool block on September 3.

On-demand kids network Kabillion, meanwhile, will bow season one and two of BabyRiki on its VOD services starting mid-September. And BabyRiki, KikoRiki and STEM-themed PinCode are set to roll out on Movile’s North American subscription-based app Play Kids starting August 23.

These agreements are the latest in a series of international distribution deals inked by FUN Union. The Hong Kong-based company partnered with Southeast Asian digital entertainment company POPS Worldwide to premiere BabyRiki, KikoRiki and PinCode on POPS Kids last week. FUN also inked an agreement with Hong Kong’s NOW TV for BabyRiki to join its SVOD Watch & Learn kids program. Additionally, FUN expanded to Greater China with a sale to China’s CCTV, which picked up KikoRiki and bowed PinCode last March, rolling out season two last December.

Season one and two of BabyRiki has racked up more than 900 million views combined on Chinese digital platforms Tencent Video, iQiyi, Youku, Mango TV and Beva since launching. Season three of BabyRiki is currently in production and should be completed by year’s end.
