The AIA/LA has released its annual winners of its Presidential Honors, bestowed to "recognize extraordinary individuals and organizations for their contribution in creating a better Los Angeles through architecture and urban design." The gold medal goes to Michael Rotondi (pictured), principal at RoTo Architects, Inc., co-founder of SCI-Arc, and currently responsible for the new Madame Tussauds in Hollywood. The Building Team of the year award goes to the LAPD headquarters downtown, which includes no fewer than 16 different architecture firms, government entities, structural engineering firms and contractors.

Excellence in Education Award: Sylvia Lavin, Professor - UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design
Honorary AIA/Los Angeles Award: Frances Anderton, Hon. AIA/LA - Host of DnA: Design & Architecture; and Producer: To the Point - KCRW; LA Editor - Dwell Magazine
Lifetime Achievement Award: Willian Krisel, AIA - William Krisel Architect
Public Open Space Award: Mia Lehrer + Associates - Vista Hermosa Park Project
AIA/LA Firm Award: Daly Genik Architects
