Gloucester City move to Cheltenham Town for two years
Gloucester last played home games at Whaddon Road in the 1969/70 season
Gloucester City will share Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road home for two years, the clubs have confirmed.
The Tigers currently play at Cirencester Town, after losing their own ground to flood damage in 2007.
However Cirencester's Corinium Stadium does not meet the Blue Square North's new quality requirements.
Gloucester City Council have provided £20,000 towards the move, which Town chairman Paul Baker said 'heralded a new era of co-operation'.
The new deal lasts until the end of the 2011/12 season, with the Tigers paying rent to their hosts, and Cheltenham's fixtures taking priority.
Gloucester City spokesman Mike Dunstan said: "We are very pleased to have completed this deal and would like to thank Cheltenham Town for all their help in making it happen."
City hope to begin their tenure with a pre-season friendly. It will not be the first time they have played home matches in Cheltenham. The Tigers staged several evening matches at Whaddon Road in 1969-70, as their own ground did not have floodlights.
