    Remarks:
Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a novelist and poet in Scotland during the 19th century. He is celebrated for his development of the historical novel of romantic tales. He is known for his 1814 Waverley series, novels such as "Ivanhoe," and poems such as "The Lay of the Last Minstrel," and The Lady of the Lake." This sculpture was a gift of New York Scottish Americans who asked Steell to create a bronze cast of his original marble sculpture of Scott unveiled in Edinburgh in 1845.
