Sputnik is a PR agency. We tell stories people can believe in.
Sputnik is a public relations, video and content production agency. We're expert at telling stories using the full range of PR tools - editorial media, video production, social media, sponsorship, events, brand experience campaigns, media training, stakeholder outreach and almost everything in between.
All business is built on storytelling and every business' most important asset is a genuine story people can believe in. Tell your story poorly and you won’t be yesterday’s news - you won’t even make the news. Tell it well and you’ll differentiate your brand, connect with your audiences and generate action that drives your business forward.
Never love anyone who treats you like you're ordinary.

Chris set up Sputnik after recognising a major gap for an agency that delivered a smarter and more tailored PR approach. He's a respected strategic counsellor, issues manager and brand navigator for some of New Zealand’s leading organisations and thought leaders. Co-author of the book 8 Tribes: The Hidden Classes of New Zealand, Chris is an innovative thinker on audience modelling and how communication strategies can better reach all New Zealanders.
Sputnik’s resident Brit, Megan is a journalism graduate and consumer PR whizz. She joined the team after crossing the pond from Manchester, England, where she worked on national PR campaigns for household brands including Coca-Cola and Aldi. Nicknamed ‘The Coverage Beast’ at her last agency, Megan’s bread and butter is landing front page stories and building meaningful relationships with the media. Outside the office, you’ll find her asking strangers if she can pet their dog or catching the latest movie release at the cinema.
Peter Graczer is an editorial media generation specialist with a nose for a story and wide networks in the New Zealand media. He has a passion for technology and a gift for presenting complex ideas very simply, which makes him a perfect tech PR person. Peter has developed an impressive record of generating mainstream coverage for what seemed like complex ideas and obscure technologies, by finding an angle that is naturally relevant to everyday New Zealanders.
Arriving at Sputnik after five years as a newspaper journalist, most recently for the Dominion Post, Sophie has a nose for the ingredients of a great news story. Her love of crafting and telling a story has made the transition to the other side of the communications fence a natural one. It’s a move made easier by Sophie’s creative spark, a love of food, and the arts - all of which Sophie is working on at Sputnik - and a desire to help shape a narrative before it lands on a news desk.
Alana is a Northland native and Victoria University of Wellington graduate. Alana began her career a personal assistant at a law firm before making the transition from PA to PR. The combination of her interest in communications, social media, food and all things Wellington, made Sputnik a perfect fit. Outside of work Alana will be perusing one of the many Wellington food establishments and Instagramming up a storm.

Freshly juiced insight.
Freshly juiced insight.
Communication without thinking is just noise. At Sputnik we're always searching for the critical insights that will lift a communications programme from mundane to exceptional.
We start with our unique understanding of audiences and what motivates them. We add to that an in-depth understanding of each client's business challenge - their place within their industry and the opportunities that presents.
Where necessary, we undertake additional research to understand what audiences and stakeholders are really thinking. The result is communications programmes based on genuine insights - into your brand, company, industry, stakeholders, competitors and consumers - and fresh ideas that resonate with you and your audiences.
The world is a restless place. Audiences are constantly evolving and cannot be defined by a single generic set of values and attitudes. 8 Tribes: The hidden classes of New Zealand is a values-based analysis of our society that was co-authored by Sputnik's Christopher Brown.
People who break conventions and push boundaries should be known for being exactly what they are - trailblazers, inventors and visionaries. Sometimes their thinking deserves to be shared. But first it must be systematised.
In a world of rapidly multiplying channels and fragmenting audiences, it can seem like everyone is telling your brand story but no-one's getting it quite right. That's when it's time to create content that tells your story in your voice.
We like listening as much as we like talking.
