Abstract:
Elevated carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration and salinity stress closes stomata and eliminates carbon uptake.
Toxicity symptoms of CO2 have been observed at 10,000 ppm CO2 in the air after six days in seven plant species.
Maize is an indicator plant, developing zebra-like stripes in the leaves.
Root exposure for six days to 10,000 ppm CO2 or near zero CO2 had no visible effect, and plants developed normally.
