Product Description
In 72 B.C. the Roman Empire swept through Europe, conquering countries and selling their citizens into slavery. One slave dared to take a stand: Spartacus. After witnessing his father's brutal murder and being sold into slavery, Spartacus (Goran Visnjic) vows to one day live as a free man. Leading 80 fellow slaves in a coordinated revolt, Spartacus and his men flee into the mountains. But besides that i enjoyed watching the show. I thought the acting was pretty good, the picture & setup of the movie is excellent.
Do not expect this to be The Gladiator :) But if you like the B.C times, you shall enjoy the show.
Thanks.

The Kirk Douglas classic this certainly isn't, but it is a worhtwhile film on a number of points. Marcus Crassus [Angus Macfadyen] is brilliantly played and can be seen to descend toward madness as the film progress. The film captures the spirit of Rome and it's attitude to non-Romans [barbarians] without resorting to the gratuitous violence of the min-series. Battle scenes are handled equally well and Goran Visnjic plays a reluctant Spartacus who struggles with his own views and overall command of the runaway slaves.
The film lacks the gloss of many top notch movies but it manages to keep the pace throughout and creates a credible atmosphere, being more realistic than the classic version and covers the main historical facts quite well. Some versions of this are rated as PG mine was marked as 15 [which is probably right] as the few sex scenes leave most to the imagination rather than graphic portrayal and the violence is more 'unsettling' rather than in your face.
At £5 or so this is well worth viewing if you're into the sword and romance type films -yes there is romance in there as well.
Absolut empfehlenswert!
