I grew up listening to the Grateful Dead. My parents true hippies. I have heard TONS of live dead recordings from many diffrent years. By the early 80's, it seemed that the boys were running out of steam, and just going through the motions. I have found however that the later 80's were quite the opposite. After the ressurection of Jerry, the band found new life, and this show/album is proof of that. Jerry's voice does struggle a bit in certain songs, but in others, such as "knockin on heavens door" he sounds good, and actually sends chills down my spine. Not long before this show, he was truly knocking on heavens door, and it's very appropriate that this song became a mainstay in many of there later shows. The musicianship here is OUTSTANDING! They really click, and there is alot of energy. You can tell that they are having fun, and happy to be alive, doing what they love! Scarlet/Fire is quite amazing! As is the China Cat/Rider. The magic that the dead are known for is very mush alive on this recording. Even if you are the type to only listen to early 70's, or Pigpen era only, I still highly recommend this. In fact, I almost want to beg and plead with you to give this a fair listen, from one deadhead to another! I promise you will enjoy it! RIP Jerry Garcia!

This show took place 1982 which is NOT late 80's and has nothing to do with Jerry coma and return from it in late 1986. Jerry was still singing well in 1982 although the tempos had slowed 1980/1981. This show reflects an upbeat show with great version of Shakedown. Definitely the best released show in 1982. Brent was incorporated into the band and Bob and Jerry were in sync

One of the first shows I got back in 94' as a freshman in Delaware(RIP) right down the road from Philly. Have listened to this show 100's of times.

This recording is very, very excellent along with a hot 82' show. You will not be disappointed.

Lot' s of 'ol Dead favorites, and with this 1982 set, they've really refined the tunes! The overall soundscape is really wonderful, and when they jam, ...they show their communication is great! Usually is!

You can tell from the 1st notes you hear that Jerry is feeling mighty spry this night. This show has 1 of the all-time BEST Shakedowns ever, imho, so you can't go wrong if you buy this. Lots of FUN!
