Men's Basketball Atlantic 10 Conference

Atlantic 10 Partners with SNY for 43-Game Television Partnership

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 Conference and SportsNet New York (SNY) have reached an agreement in which SNY will carry 43 A-10 basketball games during the 2013-14 season.  SNY reaches more than 13 million homes throughout its footprint, including the New York City metropolitan area and upstate New York.  Those 43 games will also be regionally syndicated on local affiliates in each of the competing institutions’ home markets.

The 43 games represents a significant addition to the A-10 basketball television package, giving the league an additional major television presence, both within the Brooklyn, N.Y. market, home of the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship, and on a national basis. These games are in addition to the previously announced 87-game men’s and women’s television package with the Atlantic 10’s three existing media partners, ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN, bringing the total number of nationally available games through the A-10 package to 129.

“The ability to air and distribute 43 additional games where we hold our biggest event, the Men’s Basketball Championship, is an outstanding opportunity for the conference to reach out to our large alumni base and basketball fans in the northeast,” stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “Establishing this television presence in New York on a regional sports network was important to us. We welcome SNY to the A-10 family as a partner and see this as a potential long-term mutually beneficial affiliation.”

SNY will also produce wraparound programming that features the Atlantic 10 Conference in the form of pregame, halftimes and postgame shows. SNY will report scores, conference news and promote upcoming telecasts throughout the regular season.

The A-10 will open the 2013-14 season Friday, Nov. 8 with one ranked team (No. 15 VCU) and two others (Saint Louis, La Salle) receiving votes in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll and a roster of seven teams that made postseason appearances last year. The league has had a team advance to the Sweet 16 in each of the last six years and has received multiple NCAA at-large bids during that same time frame. This season, all 13 teams will advance to the 2014 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship, played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. beginning on March 12.
