Batley parents in knife threat as children slept

  • Published

Two men with knives threatened a couple in their West Yorkshire home while their four children slept upstairs.

The men entered the property in Dark Lane, Batley, on Sunday night and threatened the man, 39, and his wife 32, demanding money and a safe.

Following a struggle, in which the man was cut, he raised the alarm with neighbours. The suspects fled, taking a handbag and purse containing cash.

The four children were not threatened and their mother was not hurt.

One suspect is described as about 5ft 6ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a green camouflage coat.

The second man was about 5ft 11ins tall and slim. He was wearing a knee-length black woollen coat.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
