One of several vessels obtained during WWI from Scottish Shire Line to increase the meat carrying capacity of the company. Surviving WWI she gave a commendable 40 years of service in total. As with all the early vessels prefixed with "Brod" after Evelene Brodstone, the formidable trouble-shooter who would later become Lady Vestey. Like her sisters she was renamed with the "Star" suffix, later the "Star" was separated from her name as became the practice after 1929.
