AUSTIN, TEXAS – Senior forward John Coleman of Clarkson University and senior guard Heather Johns of Whitman College highlight the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams as released Tuesday by Capital One and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Coleman and Johns have been chosen as the Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year honorees for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, respectively.

The Capital One Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the snnual Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
 
Coleman caps his outstanding career by being named Capital One Academic All-America® for the fourth time, including first team basketball honors for the second consecutive year. He was also a third team Capital One Academic All-America® baseball selection last spring. A 3.97 student as a mathematics major, Coleman is a two-sport star at Clarkson as he has earned All-Liberty League honors three times as a member of the baseball team.
 
Coleman, from Potsdam, New York, earned NABC and D3hoops.com all-region honors last season. He is the Golden Knights’ all-time leader in points, steals, field goals made and field goal percentage. Coleman is one of five active Division III players with over 1,500 (1,649) points and 600 (672) rebounds, and ranks first among active Division III players in field goals made. He has led Clarkson to a 19-6 record this season including a 12-4 league mark. Coleman is averaging 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, and is shooting 53.9 percent from the field.
 
Johns, a native of West Richland, Washington, boasts a 3.86 G.P.A. as a biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology major. She has started all 24 games for Whitman College and leads the Northwest Conference in scoring at 18.7 points per game, while also averaging 6.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Johns, who has five double-doubles to her credit, has connected on 44.3 percent from the field and 73.2 percent from the foul line. 
 
The 2014 Northwest Conference Player of the Year, Johns earned the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Elite 89 Award at the national championship tournament last season. She scored 58 points over two games in leading the Missionaries to an NCAA Division III runner-up finish.
 
Johns has scored over 1,400 points in her Whitman College career. She has earned Northwest Conference Player of the Week honors twice this season, and is also is a two-time All-NWC pick.
 
Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s Basketball Team
 
The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® senior-laden men’s first team has combined for a 3.93 average G.P.A., highlighted by Defiance (Ohio) College’s Travis Schomaeker, who has earned a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. majoring in education. Coleman and Schomaeker are joined by David Louison of St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn), Gordon Lyons of SUNY-Geneseo, and Yeshiva University’s Benjamin Ritholtz. Lyons was a second team selection last season, while Ritholtz moved up from the third team.
 
Schomaeker, a native of Ottawa, Ohio, is currently second on the team in scoring at 15 points per game, and is third in the Heartland Conference in both free throw and three-point shooting percentage. In 2013-14, he earned both Heartland All-Academic and All-Sportsmanship accolades.
 
Brooklyn native Louison was named the 2014-15 HVIAC Player of the Year and is a four-time All-HVIAC team honoree. He has been selected the HVIAC Player of the Week four times this season, and ranks third in the league in scoring at 17.2 points per game and second-best in rebounds with 11.3 per outing. A criminal justice major with a 3.93 G.P.A., Louison has posted 18 double-doubles this season.
 
Lyons, a native of Amherst, New York, has compiled a 3.77 G.P.A. majoring in accounting. He leads the SUNYAC in both scoring (20.5 ppg) and rebounding (12.9 rpg), on his way to four SUNYAC Player of the Week awards this year. Lyons currently leads the nation in rebounding. Last season, he was a Jostens Award finalist and also received NABC and D3hoops.com All-Region honors.
 
Ritholtz, a West Hempstead, New York native, leads both Yeshiva and the Skyline Conference with a 17.8 points per game scoring average. He maintains a 3.97 G.P.A. majoring in history. Ritholtz has been named Skyline Player of the Week on three occasions this season.
 
The men’s second and third teams consist of seven seniors, one junior, one sophomore and one graduate student representing nine different schools. Senior Seth Cordts and sophomore Jack Serbin both represent Carnegie Mellon.  
 
Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Women’s Basketball Team
 
The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® women’s first team has combined to achieve a 3.828 G.P.A. overall. Joining Johns on the first team are Eastern Mennonite University’s Jess Rheinheimer, Sabrina Drammis of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Amanda Lynch of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Hannah McGinnis of Illinois College.
 
Rheinheimer, a junior from Manheim, Pennsylvania, has earned a 3.96 G.P.A. pursuing a degree in nursing. The two-time ODAC Player of the Week leads the conference in both scoring (19.6 ppg) and field goals made, and ranks 10th in rebounding (7.4 rpg). Rheinheimer has helped the Royals to a 20-3 overall record and a regular season ODAC championship. She was named USBWA National Player of the Week in January and to the D3hoops.com Team on two occasions this season.
 
Drammis, a junior from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, averages a double-double for the Engineers at 18.1 points and 11.9 rebounds per outing. The computer science major with a 3.80 G.P.A. currently leads the NEWMAC in rebounding and is second in scoring. She earned second team All-NEWMAC and NEWMAC All-Academic team honors in 2013-14.
 
Lynch, a biomedical engineering major from Middletown, New York with a 3.88 G.P.A., is the team captain for RPI. She leads the Engineers in scoring at 16.1 points per game, while her 7.8 rebound average is second on the team. A two-time Academic All-Liberty honoree,
 
A native of Tunnel Hill, Illinois, McGinnis has earned a 3.64 G.P.A. as a psychology major. She averages a double-double for the Lady Blues, pulling down a league-high 14.4 rebounds and scoring a second-best 20.1 points per game. McGinnis was the 2013-14 MWC Player of the Year and earned MWC Performer of the Week honors three times this season.
 
The second and third teams for the women include nine seniors and one sophomore representing 10 different schools. Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Holly Denfield and McDaniel College’s Steph Perez each have posted a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. in architectural engineering/construction management and graphic design, respectively.
