Former UConn stars Donald Thomas and Tebucky Jones Jr. were among a long list of players cut as NFL teams begin making moves to get down to 75 players by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Thomas, a left guard from West Haven, Conn., was projected to be a long-term starter when he signed a four-year deal in 2013. But a torn right quad ended his 2013 season. He re-injured the quad during training camp in 2014 and was activated from the physically unable to perform list Friday. He was originally drafted in the sixth round by the Miami Dolphins in 2008. After two seasons in Miami he played the next two seasons with the Patriots before signing with the Colts in 2013.

Jones, a wide receiver who played two seasons at UConn before transferring and playing his senior season at Fordham, had signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent at the end of July. The son of former NFL star and current New Britain High coach Tebucky Jones Sr., Jones Jr. had no receptions through the Titans’ first three preseason games.
