I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! continued to dominate Friday night's ratings, as channels altered schedules to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela.

Following the death of former South African president Mandela on Thursday, December 5, BBC One, BBC Two, ITV and Channel 4 added tribute programmes to their primetime schedules.

ITV's 9pm I'm a Celebrity instalment, which saw Amy Willerton and Joey Essex leave the camp, attracted 8.7m viewers (38.2%). A further 278k tuned in on ITV +1.

Sister show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here Now! was the highest performing multichannel show, attracting 978k (6.3%) at 10.30pm on ITV2 (+1: 112k).

ITV3's 9pm Midsomer Murders repeat also performed well in the multichannels, as 952k (4.4%) tuned in to watch.

ITV's Nelson Mandela: His Life and Legacy drew 630k (6%) at 11.20pm (+1: 82.6k).


BBC One dedicated its 9pm slot to Nelson Mandela: The Fight for Freedom, with 2.23m (9.6%) tuning in to watch.

Earlier in the evening, Robbie Williams: One Night at the Palladium took a 22.3% audience share, as 4.79m watched the former Take That singer's special performance at 8pm.

The Graham Norton Show, featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Hill, Mary Berry, Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Sir Cliff Richard, pulled in an audience of 3.22m (22%), while Have I Got News For You saw 1.97m (20%) watch at the later time slot of 11.20pm.

Nature programme Wild Burma: Nature's Lost Kingdom was BBC Two's highest-performing show with 1.86m (8%) viewers.


Panel show QI attracted 1.47m viewers at 10pm, while 570k (3.6%) watched the channel's 10.30pm Newsnight special, which featured the first of a two-part Mandela obituary.

On Channel 4, 1m (4.7%) viewed Jimmy Doherty's Jimmy's Grow Your Own Christmas Dinner at 8pm (+1: 140k). 8 out of 10 Cats: Best Bits attracted 780k (3.4%) (+1: 133k).

The channel's audience grew slightly for Alan Carr: Chatty Man at 10pm, which drew 870k (4.5%) (+1: 161k). Its Nelson Mandela Superstar tribute show picked up 220k (2%) (+1: 48.5k).

Stobart: Trucks, Trains and Planes pulled in 1m (4.7%) on Channel 5 at 8pm (+1: 45.9k), while 714k (3.5%) stuck around to watch The Last of the Mohicans at 9pm.
