Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow With New Emoji Available For Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 (2013)
Google has released the factory images of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for its Nexus devices. Users, who do not wish wait longer for OTA (over-the-air) update, can install the respective factory image to get the latest Android build.
According to Softpedia, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow carries more than 200 new emoji along with some tweaks to the operating system. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow factory images are available for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus Player. The factory images can be downloaded from the official website.
Android Police has reported that the arrival of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for the newly released Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will bring support for LTE Band 12 on T-Mobile for both handsets. It will enable VoLTE support on Nexus smartphones and tablets. The publication has also reported that the Android 6.0.1 update will allow users to quickly launch the camera by double-pressing on the power button.
Currently, the Android 6.0.1 update is only available for Nexus devices. However, the search engine giant is working with OEM partners like Samsung, Motorola and HTC to start the roll out of Android 6.0.1 build.
Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management with HTC has confirmed on Twitter that the owners of unlocked version of the HTC One M9 will be receiving Android 6.0.1 within this month. He also said that the update carries new emoji. The Taiwanese company has already released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for unlocked HTC One M8 handsets earlier this month.
It is not known as to when other OEMs will release the Android 6.0 or Android 6.0.1 update. Recently, owners of unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in Hungary started receiving Android 6.0 update. This indicates that the promised roll out of Android M update for Galaxy Note 5 is imminent.
