Doctor Who: The Tsuranga Conundrum (2018)
Ok, so I liked it!
I'm really not sure why people are so hard on this episode. There's so much I like about this that embodies the Doctor Who spirit -
* Mabli is really smart and really talented, but sees herself as stupid and worthless. She's given a chance to shine, but the Doctor doesn't coddle her either.
* I will give you that the Pting is a blatant rip off of Disney's Stitch. But it does add some necessary tension as to how they're going to safely get to Resus One.
* Yoss's inner struggle trying to decide if he's worthy of bringing up his unplanned child...and Ryan helping him get to that point ("you don't have to be perfect, you just have to be there")
* Durkas's reconciliations with Ronan and his sister.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
The Finest Non-Animated Children's Movie Ever. Period.
It's quirky, it's entertaining, and it involves lots and LOTS of candy and chocolate. Who can see this movie and NOT be insanely jealous of those gaining entrance into The Chocolate Room? Or giggle at Violet Beauregarde's sassiness, Veruca Salt's tantrums, or Wonka's many mind-bending one-liners? Gene Wilder is absolutely perfect as the leading role, which gives Johnny Depp EXTREMELY huge shoes to fill if a remake is indeed made. But no matter what becomes of that possibility, nothing will EVER hold a candle to this classic original. For heaven's sake -- it's like trying to remake "Gone With The Wind"!
