Penguin chicks Daisy and Dahlia lost their baby fluffy feathers and went swimming safely on their own! They adorably dove and splashed around their private pool behind the scenes as penguin keepers kept a close eye on them. Today, they rejoined the rest of the penguin colony at Penguin Point. 🐧💦🐧

The tiny Solomon Island leaf froglets that hatched at the Zoo in November were smaller than a Skittle. Now almost one year old, they are larger than a Reese`s mini cup. Solomon Island leaf frogs are among the few frog species with no tadpole stage. Their coloration and shape help them camouflage well in decaying leaves. 🐸

International Tiger Day highlights the critical efforts to help save tigers. Sumatran tigers are vanishing from the wild at an astonishing pace. As few as 400 remain, and the critically endangered population faces intense pressure from habitat loss, black-market poaching, human-tiger conflict, and loss of prey. Assistant Curator Erin plays a pivotal role by sharing her expertise globally, fostering collaboration among zoos, and finding innovative ways to stimulate and care for tigers. The Zoo Society’s Dr. Holly Reed Wildlife Conservation Fund has provided more than $2 million in grants to support the conservation of tigers and other endangered and threatened species. We are proud to be part of the conservation community, working to ensure this magnificent species is around for future generations. Learn more about Erin’s trip to Indonesia on our blog.
