Tuesday 1 March 2016 (presumably): Arkansas Primary. Hours 7:30a-7:30p CST (1330-0130 UTC). Delegate Selection: Winner-Take-Most Primary. Voter Eligibility: Open Primary.
Tuesday 1 March 2016 (presumably): All 40 of Arkansas's delegates to the Republican National Convention are bound to presidential contenders in today's Arkansas Presidential Primary.
In addition, 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Arkansas's Republican Party, will attend the convention as bound delegates by virtue of their position.
National Convention Delegates shall remain committed to the Presidential Candidate designated on their filing form through the first ballot unless they are released by their designated Presidential Candidate or their Candidate withdraws. |
Monday 7 March - Friday 25 March 2016 (presumably): Each county holds a Special Meeting of the County Convention to elect delegates to the Special District Conventions. The Special Meeting is attended by qualified voters from that county who filed to be a Special Meeting delegate. The qualifying period is from 15 to 29 February 2016.

Saturday 30 April 2016 (presumably) - Special District Convention. District delegates are elected according to the results of the primary. |
Saturday 14 May 2016 (presumably) - State Committee Meeting. At-Large delegates are elected according to the results of the primary. The National Committeeman and the National Committeewoman shall be elected by the State Committee at the State Committee Meeting called to select delegates ... to the National Convention. On 29 May 2015, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (Republican) signed SB 8. The bill moves the 2016 Presidential and partisan primary from 3 weeks prior to the 2nd Tuesday in June to 3 weeks prior to the 4th Tuesday in March. [Arkansas Code § 7-7-203(a)]. The provisions of this act are temporary and expire on 31 December 2016. [Arkansas Code Title 21, Chapter 8, Subchapter 7, Section 7 (b)].
This moves the 2016 Presidential and partisan primaries to Tuesday 1 March 2016 and the runoff election to 22 March 2016. |
