Blue Cross Broad Street Run
An annual tradition for over 40 years, the Blue Cross Broad Street Run is a 10-mile, point-to-point course running from North Philadelphia to the Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia.
Participants pass many of the city’s most important landmarks along the way, including Temple University, City Hall, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Avenue of the Arts and the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.
Expect record-breaking times and more than 40,000 runners on this USA Track & Field-certified course, which rates as one of the country’s most iconic races by Runner’s World magazine.
Brand new for the 2023 run: prize money and awards for the top non-binary runners, as an addition to the traditional male and female open division prizes.
Spectators can find cheer zones up and down Broad Street. Family activities return this year as well, including the Children’s Fun Zone.
This year’s run is set to take place on Sunday, April 30, 2023, starting at 8 a.m.
With festivities spread out over 10 miles, it can be hard to know the best places to catch all the action. Read on for some of the top spots.
The Starting Line
The Broad Street Run kicks off in North Philly by the Central High School Athletic Field, located on Broad Street between Fisher and Somerville avenues. An electric atmosphere fills the field and racers toe the starting line by 7:55 a.m. sharp, with fresh waves of competitors gathering every five minutes.
The Finish Line
Where better to cheer on these athletes than at the official after-party? The race concludes at the K Lot in Lincoln Financial Field, right across the street from the Broad Street Run after-party at XFINITY Live! (More on that below.)
