Niclas Füllkrug: "We've already shown what we're capable of"

The Borussia Dortmund clubman cut an ecstatic figure after his goal helped Germany to a 1-1 draw with Switzerland - a result that claims top spot in Group A and ensures the optimal passage to the Round of 16 phase.

"It's a great moment for us as team and can be decisive. It wasn't a knock-out game, but normally there are no easy opponents and Switzerland showed that," explained Füllkrug.

Turning an eye to their potential opponents in the forthcoming round, the 31-year-old remained vigilant of the threat each team in Group C possess.

"If you want to become European champions you have to face the really good ones [opponents]. Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia are always capable of surpassing themselves. But I think we've already shown what we're capable of in the tournament," he continued.

Füllkrug's goal means the striker now has 7 goals in 13 substitute appearances for Die Mannschaft. A figure which includes a whopping 4 goals in 6 outings off the bench at major tournaments. Füllkrug was thrilled to add another tonight:

"The equaliser was a moment that can help us with everything in the tournament. [It boosts] team atmosphere and the euphoria in the country as well. It felt very good and I'm relieved we could experience that joy as a team," the 31-year-old concluded.

The 1-1 stalemate courtesy of Niclas Füllkrug means Germany have remained unbeaten in the EUROs group stages for a sixth time. Previous occasions include 1980, 1988, 1996, 2012 and 2016. Julien Nagelsmann's side will now face the nation who finishes as runner-up in Group C.
