Report: Toppmöller mulls over Saudi coaching job
Eintracht Frankfurt head-coach Dino Toppmöller has - according to one source - received an offer to coach Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad. This is reported by Italian footballing journalist Rudy Galetti on social media platform X. Galetti claims that the Jeddah-based club wishes to actively convince the 43-year-old to join their project. No other sources are currently corroborating the rumor, though there could be reasons for Toppmöller to accept.
Toppmöller's rookie season as a trainer in the German top flight was marred by inconsistencies. Despite the fact that a sixth-placed finish enabled the SGE to qualify for the 2024/25 Europa League, there were many calls to dismiss Toppmöller due to poor tactical decisions. The club administrative tandem of Markus Krösche and Timo Hardung ultimately opted to keep Toppmöller after an internal review.
Knowing that his place on the bench of the RheinMainAdler is tenuous at best, Toppmöller could decide to sit on a firmer saddle. One assumes that the Saudis will also be offering the Wadern-native a hefty salary and plenty of perks. Al-Ittihad finished fifth place in the Saudi Pro League last season. Famous French international Karim Benzema currently plies his trade there.
