For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB / Sturm / Na- / 30.4.1974 / Zur Reportage "Freuden und Sorgen der Städteplaner" Karl-Marx-Stadt, viertgrößte Stadt der Republik, ist auf dem besten Weg, Anziehungspunkt für Touristen zu werden. Die einst häßliche Stadt, die alte Arbeiter verbittert "Ruß-Chemnitz" nannten, hat viel neues und schönes vorzuweisen. Fast jede dritte Familie zog bereits in eine Neubauwohnung. Die reichen Traditionen der Arbeiterbewegung findet man auf Straßen, Plätzen und in Gebäuden der Stadt in zahlreichen bildkünstlerischen Arbeiten dargestellt. Karl-Marx-Stadt ist interessant geworden.
UBz: Stadtarchitekt Joachim Beuchel hat sich mit seinem Kollektiv viel den Kopf über seine Geburtsstadt Karl-Marx-Stadt zerbrechen müssen. Dabei suchten die Städteplaner den Rat der ganzen Stadt und erhielten tausende Vorschläge und Hinweise. |
