Last month, London folk rock trio Daughter hit up the BBC Radio One Live Lounge to deliver a tender mash-up of Bon Ivers “Perth” and Hot Chips “Ready For The Floor”. Over the weekend, the group returned to the lounge for another waaay out of left field cover: Daft Punk’s comeback single “Get Lucky”. In the trio’s folky hands, the disco jam turns into a brooding lament, with the slow wail of guitars and frontwoman Elena Tonra’s scorn-filled vocals adding layers of subtext to the free-and-easy lyrical content. The CoSigned outfit’s debut album, If You Leave, is out now via Glassnote Records.
