A click creates a new section of the subpage, with the timestamp of the previous comment as subpagename
- Comments: I.e. the page /20090221095033 consists of all the replies to the actual comment written at the time 20090221095033.

You may reply on your own talk page. I can read it on mine.

Bouncing over my head...

Although I am aware of how the threadNav works in principle, I have never been able to fathom it in it's operation in the last two weeks (in whatever sparse time I could spend on it). I want to make some modifications to it so that it is more simple to use for students.
Now, this may sound very stupid coming from an engineering student, I am almost stuck on porting this little code in operation to http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/User:Thewinster/Sandbox/Forum-Watch. Would you mind editing the page and put the bare minimum code on the sandbox? That would be a BIG help! --Dharav talk 12:04, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I am not sure how best I can help you organise the pages since I don't know what your subpage /Forum-Watch is for. Can you explain it?

Yes, it's working well. I'll take some time working it out. Thanks for the help. I have made some posts in the past trying to explain what the forums are meant for. I'll paste them here for a ready reference.
- "Hi! Iam ready to start with a basic forum. We have three different forums [Physics, Chemistry and Maths], each containing 20-25 sub-forums with the threads lying over there.
- Basically I want to start a forum for highschool students and highschool Phy, Chem and Math have a lot of topics. This will call in for a lot of forums or atleast categorization of the questions topicwise on different pages. Doing otherwise can actually result in a hotch-potch.
- With the topic wise sub-forum, I aim that the questions/discussions that are active are visible on top of the list and garner more attention. At the same time, this also fascilitates archiving [Imagine someone searching through the only forum for Physics for discussions on a very narrow topic!].
- This is BEST for people who WANT to discuss a particular topic. For those with a general expertise, it'll be really good if on the page where we list the subforums we are able to put up a list of the 10 most recent topics. That'll actually help exchanging human resources between two sub forums or forums.
- Yeah, so that is it. But I have no idea where this forum will go. Basically, I want to start a new course/module on wikiversity and for the time being make this forum the hundred percent of that course. Later I can extract useful content/mnemonics/graphs/data and diversify the wikiversity course."
This was on SB_Johnny's talk page. Plus there is some more discussion on http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Talk:The_Highschool_Help_Forum_-_Science_Stream although that might not be needed right now. What I'm doing on forum watch is to create a working model of the highschool help forum, so that I can copy-paste the code later on. Thank you again!

Welcome to the Highschool Help Forum!
The forum is currently in "Beta" stage of development. You can ask questions and answer/discuss them. The basic functionalities are present. What's required is a more aesthetic look to the Static pages and a more user friendly setup. This will happen over the time gradually as we start creating some content. The site has a lot of tools, like posting mathematical calculations, images and diagrams; categorizing questions and so on. Having them here is NO GOOD unless you know how to use them. I am thoroughly against compiling a list of these features and then writing about them. As soon as you do not understand how to do something or use a certain feature, report that on "How To"s Section of the forum. Your queries will be answered there. If you have any ideas/discussion regarding the site/comments, please go to Discussions regarding Highschool Help Forum Lastly, thanks for joining in the site's development process! It matters! |
