Featured review
In the same vein of Confessions of a Shopaholic, Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber mainly borrows from the title rather than the plot or type of protagonist. Sure, there are tons of adorable fashion ensembles for Jennifer Love Hewitt to wear, and she narrates her journey as she tries to get ahead in her career, but she doesn't have an addiction problem and she's not particularly endearing.
Instead of being unable to stop shopping and brightening her life with material things, Jennifer just wants to become successful and popular. She's willing to do anything to get one rung higher up, and along the way she meets a gorgeous and wealthy guy: Colin Ferguson. Ladies, he's just as yummy as he is in Cedar Cove, but he doesn't have any complex character to work with. He's simply eye candy. In fact, in one scene, he takes his shirt off in the most random situation ever. It's so random, both he and Jennifer actually giggle at the ridiculousness of it all.
But does anyone popping in this movie actually care at a sensible plot? Probably not. You'll be watching it for Jennifer's cute outfits and to see how she can win success, money, popularity, and an insanely gorgeous guy.
