I have had it on my action plan to write something in the relevant Lua modules for Navbox/Sidebar (which is another case) which adds notpageimage to internal images, and just haven't gotten around to it (and because while it's probably not hard, it's probably not totally trivial either, see also T301588#7705129).

If someone works on this I highly recommend not going for P18 only. There are different properties that might represent an image. We for example have a special one for coat of arms.
If you ask Wikidata for the page image for an Item it will give you one, not just from P18 but also other relevant image properties. I recommend either using that page prop or relying on the configuration that lists all the properties in the order they should be used for a usecase like this.

Declining this old bug. In 2024, editors can disable montage display in previews using the technique described here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PageImages#Can_I_exclude_certain_page_images?

Thanks! I assume they were trying to do evil!
This has been fixed with this patch, which I forgot to associate with this bug.
I'm seing that in the last hour this has changed. I don't know if any change has been done somewhere, but now it is possible to choose images from the link. I will wait some days to claim it solved.

Anyway, having more than one og:image is not a standard protocol: https://ogp.me/
I am checking with traffic whether any crawling APIs from these services are being rate limited or blocked.

I assume there's no news on this, but the problem is still there, as I have experienced today, so isn't something that would be gone automagically.

In the last couple of weeks it has failed every time. It doesn't fail with other pages that are not part of Wikimedia.
The FB sharing debugger notes:
The metadata seems correct, or not different from any other website I have visited. As an working hypothesis... could it be something related on Commons serving raw images?
Can confirm there is definitely something wrong.

Is this related to T269003?

This seems fixed at Discord's side again, at least in my client.

Can confirm the Discord issue, it also exists for the Associated Press which shows two images.

Apparently, Discord has changed the way it displays embeds and now it displays 3 images, too. It was displaying only one until today.
