I am a philosopher of science working ​at  the University of Wuppertal. I am also an external member of the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy.

I studied theoretical physics in Aachen, where I did my Diplom (research master) specialising in particle physics and cosmology. My interest in more foundational questions then led me to study philosophy of science at the London School of Economics, obtaining a M.Sc. in 2012. I completed my PhD at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP), Ludwig Maximilians University Munich, before moving to the Institute of philosophy at the Leibniz University Hannover. At the University of Wuppertal, I'm a member of the Philosophische Seminar and the IZWT, which is also where the interdisciplinary research unit "The Epistemology of the LHC" is based. The sub-project I am involved with, together with the theoretical physicist Robert Harlander, is on the concept of naturalness in particle physics. I am also a PI of an interdisciplinary research training group on "Transformations in Science and Technology since 1800: Topics, Processes, Institutions" (see here for upcoming Job Ads). 
​I am currently deputy spokesperson of the working group "Philosophy of Physics" of the German Physical Society and member of the Junge Akademie at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.

I am interested in the various ways scientists reason in theory development and theory assessment.
