Poor Blaster can't catch a break with these new guys.

Sundor (サンドル Sandoru) is an Autobot equipped with automatic-targeting blasters that fire Corona rays and can melt even Trithyllium steel. Arrogant and narcissistic, he was once a Decepticon until an accident involving sun spots and the space bridge altered his mind and body and he switched sides.

...Or so the Autobots believe. In fact, Sundor is secretly a Decepticon spy who concocted an elaborate cover story (apparently following an actual space bridge accident) to help him infiltrate the enemy from within. Although both sides believe that the accident changed his allegiance, Megatron is aware that Sundor remains his loyal follower. The unsuspecting Blaster, meanwhile, is just thrilled to have a flyer on his team.

The incident granted Sundor nearly impenetrable skin and incredible solar powers, but his special abilities fade at sunset, forcing him to make up excuses for fleeing the battlefield when it becomes dark. The data recorded on his micro-cassette mode is almost entirely sun-based trivia ("The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace...").[1]

Everybody cut loose!

Sundor and his cassette companions appeared on the orbiting base Nana, much to the delight of Teletraan 15, though Teletraan 10 was less than thrilled at the noise they made. But until the Earth's anti-electron field was removed, they were there to stay. Kiss Players Position Volume

After the EDC's anti-electron field was removed, Transformers were once again able to visit the planet Earth. The narcissistic Sundor gladly joined the newly formed singing group "Kiss Players", which also included the humans Marissa Faireborn, Shaoshao Li, and Atari Hitotonari and the Transformers Rosanna and Glit. Although Rosanna was allegedly the star of the show (at least of the three Transformers), Sundor believed that he properly ought to be the true spotlight feature.

As the Kiss Players performed at the Brave Maximus Fortress stop of their world tour, a trio of mysterious Sparkbots suddenly appeared, claiming to be servants of Primus, and told the three humans to kiss them. When they did, the humans and Brave were transported away through time, leaving the three cassettes behind, where they shared in the adventures of Teletraan 15. Kiss Players #39

After the disappearance of their human allies, the trio returned to Metroplex in Scramble City until Ultra Magnus gave the three a new assignment. Sparkbots Volume 2 Somehow, the trio stowed away inside Teletraan 15's uniform, and when she was imprisoned by the "Black Panther Man" for destroying sensitive data, they revealed themselves and freed her. As 15 destroyed the disk containing the data she'd collected on her journeys through time and space, the cassettes fought off the panther. It didn't go too well for them. 10 Volume

With all the data collected destroyed, the Black Panther Man's plans were ruined, though he had a grudging respect for his subordinates for having stopped him. To that end, rather than destroying them all, he simply dumped the Teletraans and cassettes out of his ship, back on Nana, and left. 15 Volume: The Last Part

Notes

  • Sundor's deco was created alongside Star Dust's by Satomi Akesaka, the voice actress for Kiss Players character Atari Hitotonari and for Sundor himself.
  • The name "Sundor" (サンドル) is a pun on the mold's original name "Condor" (コンドル). The new tape-mode stickers show a series of suns around the edges.
  • The Wings Universe incarnation of Laserbeak is described as a Cryo-Condor. This designation could arguably apply to all characters sharing Laserbeak's body-type.
