Unmarried couple found hangingfrom tree with same rope in Kheri
Bareilly: An unmarried couple - 17 and 22 years - were found hanging from a tree with the same rope in UP's Kheri on Sunday morning. Police said the incident appears to be a case of suicide, after opposition from the couple's families to their relationship.
SSP (Kheri) Sankalp Sharma said, "We've sent the bodies for autopsy and are waiting for the report. Evidence from the site was collected with the help of forensic experts. Investigation is ongoing. We're yet to receive any complaint so far."
Local villagers saw the couple hanging in the orchard under Hyderabad police limits in Kheri and informed the cops. The couple were residents of Chhatipur village and belonged to the same community. The girl is reported to be a minor while her boyfriend is 22 years.
The girl's family said that she went to a neighbour's birthday party around 11pm on Saturday and did not return. They received news of her death the next morning. Her friend, a school dropout, was also missing that night.
"He used to work at a factory in Punjab and was in a relationship with a girl here. They both wanted to get married, but after coming to know about their affair, the girl's father fixed her marriage elsewhere. After coming to know of it, he returned to his native village on Friday and met the girl's parents, but they turned him away," said a member of his family.
