Kanpur: Archana Devi and Garima Yadav, the two regular players of UP’s under-19 women cricket teams have been selected to represent India C and B respectively in the under-19 Challenger trophy cricket tournament to be held in Goa from November 1.
Earlier, these two girls had been picked for zonal national camp held in Rajkot in May this year.
Right hand off break bowler and middle order batswomen Archana is a regular player of UP senior team.
She had grabbed the highest 13 wickets for UP in the under-19 championship held recently in Ahmedabad. Garima has been a regular player of the under-19 UP team for the last two years.
According to secretary, Kanpur Cricket Association Alok Gupta, the four teams will take part in the Challenger trophy. The probables would be picked for the forthcoming World Cup scheduled to be held next year.

Trial matches: Kanpur Cricket Association’s A team outplayed B team in the talent hunt trial match held at the Sapru ground on Friday. The B team, batting first, posted a total of 158 runs in 37.2 overs and in reply the A team hit the required 161 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and won the match.

School Chess: Jagriti Sahodaya School’s senior chess championship for CBSE schools will be held at Kanyakubj Public School from November 2. According to Pooja Sehgal, principal of the host school, the students from class IX to XII can participate in this event which would be held in two groups. So far, 13 schools have given confirmation to take part in the event.
Secretary, Kanpur Chess Association Dilip Srivastava said the championship would be held in five rounds. Harish Rastogi would be the chief arbiter of the event.
