In 2019, Hina Khan debuted at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, where she unveiled the poster for her film, ‘Lines.’ Her return in 2022 to launch her Indo-English film, ‘Country of Blind,’ further solidified her status as a fashion icon on the red carpet. As the 77th edition of the festival concludes, Hina Khan shares her feelings about missing this year's event.
Reflecting on her absence from Cannes this year, Hina expressed a deep sense of longing.
While talking to News18, she mentioned both times she went with her films, so, next time when she has a movie, she will go again.
Further, the actress added that she knows a lot of people and Cannes and she enjoys dressing up as well. “I know that I’ve had the opportunity to wear such amazing gowns. It’s just that I’m not there! I miss that," Hina shared. She reminisced about her connections with photographers, makeup artists, hairstylists, and designers, noting that everything would seamlessly fall into place if she attended again.
Hina's debut appearance at Cannes in 2019 was marred by controversy when a senior film journalist made a derogatory comment, likening Cannes to a local studio, which drew significant backlash. The incident highlighted the challenges she faced and overcame, showcasing her resilience and commitment to her craft.
Much like renowned Indian actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sobhita Dhulipala, who represented brands at Cannes this year, Hina is open to the idea of attending the festival with brand endorsements in the future. "On this international carpet, people showcase high fashion and glam but at the same time, the festival is known for films. If I get an opportunity again, I would love to go. I don’t want to go just for the heck of it. Maybe I’ll go again in a couple of years. I might also go there for a brand," she said, expressing her enthusiasm for cinema and fashion.
Despite missing Cannes this year, Hina Khan remains a prominent figure in the world of entertainment and fashion. As she continues pursuing her career in film and television, Hina's potential return to Cannes is eagerly anticipated by her fans and the industry alike
