Nalanda election results 2024 live updates: JD(U)'s Kaushalendra Kumar wins

NEW DELHI: Kaushalendra Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) party won with 5,59,422 votes, a margin of 1,69,114 votes over the runner-up. Dr. Sandeep Saurav of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) came in second place with 3,90,308 votes, falling short by 1,69,114 votes.
The remaining candidates, including independents and those from various other parties, received significantly fewer votes.Sudhir Kumar of the Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party secured 25,291 votes, while Surendra Prasad of the Al-Hind Party obtained 18,576 votes. Shashi Kumar of the Samaj Shakti Party received 18,480 votes, and Pramod Kumar Nirala of the Bahujan Samaj Party got 15,332 votes.
Other candidates, such as Ajeet Kumar (Independent), Vinay Pratap Singh (Rashtriya Sanatan Party), Sanjay Rajesh (Karpoori Janta Dal), and Sudhir Das (Independent), received votes ranging from 14,750 to 6,806.
The NOTA (None of the Above) option received 19,217 votes.
The Nalanda Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar comprises seven Assembly segments: Asthawan, Biharsharif, Rajgir (SC), Islampur, Hilsa, Nalanda, and Harnaut.
The polling for 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Nalanda took place on June 1.
Major candidates contesting were Kaushlendra Kumar from Janta Dal(United), Surender Singh as an Independent, and Sandeep Saurav from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Kaushlendra Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) secured victory by a margin of 256,137 votes, garnering 52% of the total votes polled. The main contenders in Nalanda are the Janta Dal United(JDU) and the Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular).
In 2014, Kaushlendra Kumar of JD(U) party won with 3,21,938 votes. The runner up was Satya Nand Sharma of LJP party . The margin of victory was 9,623 votes.
The Nalanda constituency has a total of approximately 2,114,809 voters as per 2019 data, with a voter turnout of 48.79%. The electorate includes 15.1% Scheduled Caste (SC) voters and 5.1% Muslim voters, while the majority, around 77.9%, reside in rural areas.
