Which on-demand food platform has the most market share of total consumer spend across the USA in 2019?

Last summer, Edison Trends reported on the on-demand food platform leaders across the nation, previously finding that GrubHub Inc. led competitors in market share of total consumer spend. As of February 2019, DoorDash edged ahead of its peers to take the lead against on-demand food platform competitors across the USA with 28% of market share, followed by GrubHub Inc. (27%) and Uber Eats with (25%).

From March 2018 to February 2019, DoorDash’s monthly share of total consumer spend in the United States nearly doubled, from 15% to 28%. In comparison, monthly share of total consumer spend of Uber Eats, Postmates, and Caviar remained roughly the same. However GrubHub Inc. experienced an 11 percentage point loss in market share during this period, falling from 38% to 27%.

Which on-demand food platform has the most market share of transaction across the USA in 2019?

While ranking second in share of total consumer spend, Uber Eats leads competitors in market share of food delivery orders. Between March 2018 and February 2019, DoorDash’s transactions market share doubled, growing from 13% to 26%. In comparison, monthly share of transactions of Uber Eats, Postmates, and Caviar remained roughly the same. However, GrubHub Inc. experienced a 12 percentage point loss in transactions market share during this period, falling from 38% to 26%.

At which on-demand food platform do consumers spend the least per order?

Price per transaction for Uber Eats receipts is lower than that of its competitors, making it the leader in transactions market share, but not share of total consumer spend by February 2019.
