Best Place to Ride a Bike

COMEDIAN DICK SMOTHERS

Dick Smothers, half of the comedy team the Smothers Brothers -- he's the one Mom likes best -- loves to hop on his bike and take the 13-mile loop at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, about 15 miles west of Las Vegas off Charleston Boulevard (Route 159). "The Red Rock ride is absolutely the best," Smothers says. "There's one-way traffic so you don't have cars driving by you at 60 to 65 miles an hour. And bikers don't have to pay" the $5 fee to enter. "It's a beautiful run." But if you're not up to pedaling the 4.4-mile uphill portion of the loop, Smothers also highly recommends the ride out to Blue Diamond on Route 159.
