- Nintendo held a QA session after its E3 press conference today, and IGNcube was quick to get to the point. At the end of the Legend of Zelda trailer it didn't flash "Holiday 2002," as did Metroid Prime, for instance. Instead to tease for its forthcoming release, Nintendo ended with the phrase, "Coming Soon."

We inquired, "Is that 'Coming Soon 2002' or 'Coming Soon 2003'?" To this Nintendo of America's Peter MacDougall replied, "It will be launched later this year in Japan. And, we're targeting for America in February. We're still hopeful we'll have it for the holiday season, but we're being conservative at this point in time. Miyamoto would kick me if I said otherwise."

On a more positive note, the version of Legend of Zelda that Mr. Miyamoto played for the crowds seemed very far along and already demonstrated polish.

So, there's still a silver line to the dark clouding, but don't hold your breath. Nintendo has always had a problem delivering its Zelda series on time.
