It's All About the Audience

This show isn't about Ballroom Dancing, this show is about America voting and participating in the process of picking a winner. Is big media listening? The # 1 and # 2 shows on TV are all about the audience, not about the stars or the studio.

This show is about interactivity - it's about community - it's about people wanting to "participate" - it's about trusting the process. Just as we vote to show our satisfaction or displeasure for a politician, the audience votes for their favorite dancer or performer just to be involved in the process of picking a winner. It is ironic that more people now vote for an American Idol than vote for a US President.

A Favorite Blog

I have to admit, this blog (D.C Sports Bog) is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Dan is working hard to point to other bloggers covering sports that others dare not cover. :-) He adds an interesting and unique perspectives on many facets of local sports. Go Dan go!

A Win to Savor

I woke up this morning feeling good after a great comeback win last night. We spotted Ottawa 3 goals on 5 shots and then stormed back to win 4 to 3 in overtime.

Redskins Victory Over Cowboys

THIS is why, as a fan, one should never ever leave the stadium until the game is officially over. At yesterday's game, people started heading for the exit when Dallas lined up for its field goal and wow, what a sequence of events those fans missed - perhaps the greatest ending to a Redskins game that I have seen in the past ten years. Truly an amazing come back. I am very happy for everyone in the Redskins organization - what an unbelievable win.

AOL Latino

I went to a diner to pick up some take-out last night. While there, a young man in line started to talk to me about AOL and how much he appreciated AOL Latino. He said he uses AOL as his ISP and "opted" to have AOL Latino as his homepage.

It makes me feel good that we continue to make products and services that people depend on, value and speak about with such enthusiasm. And now AOL Latino is available for free out on the web.

Early Questions Answered on the AOL Stategy Shift

Time Warner released its third-quarter earnings earlier today, and it offered the first look at whether our big strategic shift this summer is working. The answer from those results was very clear: Like a charm. Let's look at a few of the questions that were raised in August when we announced the shift.

Cute Quote

A friend of mine wrote me with a link to this story with a cute quote.."Better a "has been" than a never was".

Caps Take 5 of 8 Points on the Road

For those of us who stayed up late, the Caps completed a very nice west coast swing taking 5 of 8 points on a long tough road trip. It was gratifying to see Richard Zednik break open his play with two goals, an assist and nearly making a hat trick as well. I think the math associated with 5 of 8 points over a full season is pretty positive. Does anyone anonymous care to do that math now and comment for us?

Note that the AP reporter reminds us that we have lost only twice in regulation in the last 10 games. We are making progress, the team is playing well and we have superior goaltending to date.

It is ironic that this morning, the only two emails I received were from fans asking me to reconsider signing a former Caps player. What do I have to do to get our fan base to fall in love with this generation of Caps players? Tell me.

Houdini a Spy: Who Knew?

I will be first in line to buy this the new biography on Harry Houdini. Houdini is a great hero to everyone who has ever dabbled in magic. He was a giant personality, a great performance artist and who knew, a spy and an undercover agent for Scotland Yard.

Alex the Great

I received an email from a friend in Canada, who said that traveling with Alex is like traveling with the Beatles. He is truly beloved in Canada, with multiple cover stories in every newspaper; hundreds of people milling around the hotel lobbies in the hope of catching a glimpse of Alex and getting his autograph.

As George Mcphee said to our fan club, "this is a once in a generation time to watch a historic figure emerge in our league".
