Formed by comic book artist Gerard Way, shortly after he witnessed 9/11, My Chemical Romance are here to save the planet. With songs like I'm Not Okay (I Promise) and the cheerily titled Cancer, their habit of wearing black uniforms and covering themselves in blood for photoshoots, you'd be forgiven for thinking they're morbid death-obsessed goths who spent too long in their bedrooms as teenagers.
Actually, you'd be right about the bedrooms. But despite what The Daily Mail and Kasabian would have you believe, they're not really the leaders of an emo death cult on a mission to make teenagers self-harm. In fact MCR claim to save lives. And their armies of teen fans agree.
Featuring exclusive interviews with all five band members, this is the story of a band who went from being slightly overweight teenage misfits, to much skinnier twenty-something misfits, taking in a drink and drug hell along the way and ending up with one of the most successful albums of 2006.

ah- my chem are not emothat catogary is way too narrow to fit them ini rekon it's used just cos they basically created their own genre violent pop/rock/metal/emo/alternative...but this documentary was good! some funny stuff in there toodidn't tell the guys who like mcr already very much, but a nice little summary:)long live mcr!

The comments on this podcast are bang on the mark. MCR have such an uplifting sound to them, they have definately saved me from dark moments a few times. Its amazing how they can change your mood from sluggish, angry and alone to dancing, singing from the rooftops with enthusiasm. People who look down on them because theyre different are the people who i feel sorry for because theyre beleifs of up lifting music is RnB where tacky singers try and sell sex to young teenagers - now thats misleading us youths, not MCR.x x x

MCR have saved my life, About two years ago I was in a deep depression and when i heard I´m not ok i was stunned, I was uncontactable. Ever since i have loved mcr. I am obsessed! I swear. THERE IS NO ONE ELSE WHO LOVES THEM MORE THEN I DO!, Gerard and me have like the same feelings. He says that he doesn´t like himself neither do I. And he use to harm himself, so did I. Travelled down to London yesterday with my daughter and had an absolutely fantastic time. I've been going to gigs for 20 years (being old and sad) and I have to say that MCR are THE most exciting band live EVER. Yet another great night out courtesy of Gerard, Frank, Ray, Bob and Mikey. A great way to round off the tour which I can personally vouch for the A1+ concerts in Manchester and Nottingham. Looking forward to Download in June. THANK YOU RADIO 1!!!!!!!!!!

I love this documentary because it's very detailed and I love the way they are introduced as superheroes because if you think of how far they've come. They really have helped people all over the world, I personally believe they are true life savers, they'v helped me out and they are really are a kind of theropy for me.
