Description
The Honors Fellowship is designed to encourage and support
scholarly endeavors of University Honors Program (UHP) participants.
Fellowships are awarded on the basis of academic merit (GPA) and completion
of a UHP Learning Contract. Honors Fellowship application forms must be
obtained from the UHP office at the time of admission to the program. Each
fellowship award category has a list of minimum qualifying requirements.
Honors Fellowship awards are subject to funding availability.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the Honors Fellowship, students
must:

Be members in good academic standing of the UHP

Freshmen - a cumulative UCR GPA of 3.20 and above

Sophomores - a cumulative UCR GPA of 3.50 and above

Upper division students - a cumulative UCR GPA of 3.50
and above

Have completed at least 32 hours of academic credit (two
quarters, Fall and Winter); |

Complete the requirements outlined in the UHP Learning
Contract for Lower Division, Sophomore Honors or Upper Division Honors. |
Continuing Student Fellowships are available to students
continuing in the honors program for the next year on a competitive
basis.
Award Categories
UHP Students Living in On-Campus Honors Housing in
Aberdeen-Inverness and Pentland Hills
Students must meet all conditions specified on the
Fellowship Guidelines form. You must request placement in the Honors
Housing Facility on your Housing Application, due June 1st.
Living in a UHP residence hall community is a privilege. Students who have
been found in violation of Housing Rules and Regulations, the UHP guidelines
and standards, as well as the University Code of Conduct and Regulations
will be denied an Honors Fellowship. UHP Rules and Regulations can be found
in the Student Handbook.

Priority is given to first-year students. Students may
choose from a variety of residence halls including traditional-style or
suite-style. Support for first-year students is $1500 for the 2007-2008
academic year and normally goes
to housing. |

After the first year, students can apply to receive
$1000 for the 2007-2008 academic year toward on-campus housing.

Non-residential UHP Students can apply for an award of $500
to:

Contribute toward an Education Abroad experience. This
award may be used in conjunction with the funds received by financial
aid or academic scholarships. Students must have completed 32 units of
UCR credit in order to qualify.

Support a research project conducted through UHP Upper
Division Program (reviewed by UHP committee). Specific selection
criteria guidelines apply.

Support participation in the UCDC or UC Sacramento
programs

Textbook Stipend
Deadlines
Applications must be submitted to the UHP office by the end
of fall quarter each year. The award period for each fellowship category is
one academic year. Students must reapply annually.
A committee of UHP faculty and staff will evaluate applications.
