Bill Gates' sperm: second most-wanted in China

Check it Stephen Colbert, there's a new premium man seed farmer wanted for China. In a poll of 1,000 women between the ages of 25 to 35, Bill Gates was the second most popular choice to plow those fertile asian fields. Oddly, veteran Hong Kong actor Andy Lau was the number one choice even though he can't code his way out of a paper bag.

What do you mean???? Andy Lau is a smart, adorable guy, way better than Gates. You don't have to like him, but you don't have to insult him. Especially since what you wrote is not true :P

Who can answer me?
Thank you very much!

*I've already found this phrase in Wiktionary, but still don't understand.

I think it came from:
He couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag.
or
He couldn't find his way out of a paper bag.

Which should be very easy considering that it is made of paper (fight/punch) and there is only one way out (find)

it means he's bad at it.

tekdemon @ Jul 3rd 2007 8:19AM

It translates to meaning:
"even though Andy Lau doesn't know how to write computer programs"

The paper bag thing is basically because paper bags are easy to tear, so if you can't do something well enough (to get) "out of a paper bag" it means you can't do that that thing very well.

Yeah it's confusing. Just think of it as "is bad at" or "can't"

With a picture like that of Bill Gates, it makes me curious what would happen if they had a calendar spread of all these computer pioneers in such poses. Bill Gates could be January. Steve Jobs in some other pose. I wonder if it would sell.... Hmmm...

Bill Gates can't code his way out of a paper bag either. The last thing he developed was Altair BASIC, and he had help from Monte Davidoff and Paul Allen with that. He purchased MS-DOS fully functional from Seattle Computer Products, Word was written by Simonyi and Brodie, and by the time Windows was in development Gates was a full time CEO/Manager.

A correction to one of the assumptions made by your reporter: there's precious little concrete evidence that Mr. Gates can code his way out of a paper bag, either. Witness the past, oh, 25 years of Microsoft products.

This got to be most racist theme topic by far .

#1 this is technology blog, not some social commentary about sex

#2, this quote:

"Bill Gates was the second most popular choice to plow those fertile asian fields. Oddly, veteran Hong Kong actor Andy Lau was the number one choice even though he can't code his way out of a paper bag."

why is it a surprise for a HK movie star to be #1 in Asia? This is such typical white privilege smug talk that comes out of white men is so damn annoying. I love how Thomas Ricker ( asianphile racist white man-no doubt) used " plowing" as a adjective for sex in a TECHNOLOGY blog

I certainly hope so because that comment was sarcasm on engadget's part because basically noone finds coding sexy which is what they're getting at. Please don't confuse sarcasm with racism.
