¿uʍop ǝpısdn pɐǝɹ noʎ uɐɔ

flipYou know how when you were a kid you would type 80085 into a calculator because it sort of kind of looked like another word? Maybe that was just us. But modern computers give you oh so many more ways to make plain text borderline unreadable.

For instance, there's absolutely no practical reason you would ever want to uʍop ǝpısdn ʇxǝʇ ɹnoʎ dı1ɟ. But this little text inverter application has inspired hundreds of digg users to write comments that are best read if you're standing on your head.

Sure, it's kind of cool looking, but you know what else is cool? Being able to read the comments. Still, if you want to drive your mom crazy with your next email home, flip your text upside down and pretend not to understand why she's having trouble reading it.

1. Strange that it doesn't work with numbers... 7734, etc.

3. @RP: It finds whatever Unicode characters that look like letters upside down. This is generally not possible for numbers, so they're not converted.

4. Here's a Smart Block for Nik that does this.

5. I have found this to be a very useful skill, like when you are sitting across the desk from someone -- job interviews, especially.

Correct number for teh upsidedown funz is 58008. Or 5318008, if you're particularly cool.
80085 doesn't need to be flipped.

7. There was a series of mystery books (like Encyclopedia Brown-type books) when I was a kid that had the solutions in the back printed upside down and backwards. You were supposed to turn the book upside down and read it in the mirror. I was too lazy for that so I just learned to read upside and backwards. I can still do it after a few seconds of practice. I wonder what those books were called....
