E307: Crisp, clear Mario Kart footage from the Nintendo keynote
Whether you saw Reggie's announcement on Mario Kart Wii yesterday or not, odds are that the footage you saw of the game was fuzzy or distant, and that is just plain wrong. Mario Kart is a delicious treat meant to be enjoyed up close, like a fluffy, flaky, French pastry. So of course, when we need a good video, we turn to French gamers -- and Jeux France comes through with some of the best footage from the keynote we've seen so far. Sure, you could watch a blurry clip on YouTube, but this is Mario Kart. You deserve better. Go on over and give it a gander, because we can't embed it here.

(Page 1)2. Interesting ploy, selling software AND the matching hardware all in one box. This is what - the second time wii has paired products? Not that I mind, since N factory hardware is usually top notch.
Thinking about it.... yeah, I do believe I like this idea to SOME extent, but to send a clear message about it: don't start getting all 'money' about this idea, it can VERY easily alienate consumers (making one new thing REQUIRE another new thing is very definitely a Micro$oftian philosophy which alienated me).
Game looks very good, though graphics are not massively better than MK64. Always pleased to see new courses. Online is a neat idea too (I hope lag does not come to be an issue).
I'll own it, fer sure.
3. If you go to 0:30 sec in the video is there 12 racers on the starting line. I remember Reggie saying something about adding more players but could not distinguish between more characters or number of players. What do you guys see?
4. Hopefully there will be both more characters at once, as you pointed out, and more characters to select from.
Not sure if the editors read the comments on their own articles but that website even gives you the code to embed it on their website, so I don't see why you couldn't embed it. Just click the video link on the sidebar of that site and the code is under the video. Also, one of the two listed includes mostly all of what Reggie had to say about the game. (Including the horrible jokes.)
5. @3 Well spotted, hadn't stopped to notice that before. I did guess though that it would be 12 players(definitely 12 on the grid there)after the announcement as it would be the natural progression after 8 IMO(10, just two extra, 14 perhaps too many).
6. It seems like they're bringing back the "Classic" Courses feature
One of those tracks was clearly taken from that one from Mario Kart DS, where you ran around the interior of some crater in a jungle
Some old, some new, more simultaneous racers, and they seem to be going with the Mario Kart DS control scheme, which in turn takes the better aspects of the Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart 64 schemes
seems like a winner to me
7. man this guy is boring as hell... whatever happened to old E3
Also I love how they make a big deal of the wheel, even though a launch game for Wii came with pretty much the same thing. I don't know how this will "level the track" since most people who suck at kart suck b/c they dont know what "braking" is.

8. Mario Kart DS with Mario Kart 64 and some new tracks thrown in, what could be better? I know what could be better, tell us that we don't have to wait until next year! I am very impatient and want everything yesterday. Damn Nintendo making me wait again!
1. They said the keywords: Online Multi-player Battler Mode. This bad boy is on my shopping list.
