Through the rapid development of the fisheries industry in the eighties and nineties, our isolated and dispersed hunting communities have experienced economic growth and social development, heralding the advent of a modern Arctic society.

Our vast and majestic inland ice is the source of unlimited freshwater supplies – actually it is the largest freshwater reserve in the world.
