Smash Bros. Brawl delayed in US until February 10, 2008

At a media summit this morning in San Francisco, Nintendo of America's George Harrison (via MTV Multiplayer) has confirmed that the US version of Smash Bros. Brawl will follow in its Japanese brethren's footsteps and be delayed until February 10, 2008.

The loss of this future bestseller during the holiday season will definitely sadden some fans (and Nintendo's profit margin), but then again Mario Galaxy is also coming in November (so far as we know) and it was always uncharacteristic of Nintendo to space AAA-title releases so close together.

No word yet on a delay for PAL territories, though we suspect a similar fate.

Sad: It makes Brawl come dangerously close to No More Heroes

but more time for me to play through galaxy, so it's all good.
Exactly.
I'll be in Mexico this Christmas anyways so it doesn't bother me much. I can spend my Christmas money elsewhere.

I guess maybe they are delaying it so it can launch along side FF13 or MGS4 and try to steal some of the steam from one of their competitors?

Though, I am not sure if this game would detract much steam from the hype surrounding any of those two games. Though it does seem more cuasl-game oriented...so maybe.
Wow, someone knows nothing about games...

Man....this changes everything.....
Seems like being on time is last-gen too. Really people, is it that hard to stick to a release date?
It actually is.

I agree with you fully....

How about not releasing a date in the first place so people dont get their hopes up for "December 3".

They should have done everything in their power to get this game out...

Oh and what a delay too...couldn't they just delay it to like Jan. or something, damn!!!waffles12121syrup!!

It's only hard to do when you're setting unrealistic dates. If you're going to say the game will be ready by a date, you darn well should have it ready by then; otherwise you get the Duke Nukem Forever problem.

It's hard for Nintendo to keep a release date. Look how long they delayed LoZ Twilight Princess. Hopefully they won't delay Mario Galaxy.

I'm torn, want to play this badly, yet I know that spacing out some of these awesome games will really make things easier on my sanity. Here's to hoping another 1 or 2 AAA titles get delayed!!
That sounds all good and dandy but all of these "AAA" titles are already delayed to Feb or March 08'. So now your going to have the same problem you thought you had now in march...

Obviously the delay is due to Sonic's involvement. The devs ran into difficulty configuring the blast processing in such a way that the duct tape doesn't melt. Additional play testing is needed.

Shouldn't Sonic had sped things up rather than slow things down?

All those damn drugs he did with Tails is catching up to him.

Get married in January or don't get married.

I got married Nov 18 2006, my wedding gift from my wife was a Wii in the form of a Best buy gift card. That night we take a plane to Mexico where I saw no Best Buys. Came back from honeymoon and there where no Wii's in stock ANYWHERE. Did not get Wii until mid Feb... See my wife is very smart

I'll agree with the previously mentioned sad faces, although I'm poor enough that I would have had to put the game on my (already almost maxxed) credit card anyway...so maybe this'll be a good thing in that respect. I'm still sad though.
