Iwata: 100 proposals for WiiWare

Along with announcing the slew of new titles for Nintendo's Wii Ware download service, Satoru Iwata revealed that the company has received lots of proposals for Wii Ware titles. In commenting to the press, Iwata stated "We've already received proposals for over 100 titles from software development companies. We've made a platform for developing software at low cost, and would like to offer a new business chance based around a battle of ideas."

That means this flood of new titles for the download service is only going to be followed by even more titles, causing us great joy here at the Wii Fanboy HQ. Because, you know, we like games.

2. There's only one enormous problem: The Wii's storage capabilities. My channel slots are almost full up and moving them to and from SD cards is an unwelcome nussiance.

3. Im in agreement with everyone and i think everyone who owns a wii where is the Hard drive sd cards dont cut it!!

not only do we have wii ware but a demo download channel too ok there is going to be no space what so ever!

i did a little digging and most of the news on a hard drive is old hat and nintendo said no no no! but they also said no to a usb keyboard and we have one now!

now with all the additions of these new games, and demos to download they really are trying to get into the online experience and if that is so they need to have another storage device for all us wii owners!

4. Heh, every mouse-based Popcap game ever should show up within a month -- that would actually be really, really cool. I've never paid for a Popcap game yet (unless you count Peggle Extreme in my Orange Box, which I don't), but I might think about it if I can do it on my Wii...

5. They just need to let the SD card slot act as an active storage device because those things now come in 8 gigs which Should be enough for demos and Wiiware.

6. Re: storage woes, if they just add support for "Mass Storage" USB profile, I'd be happy. I have an old external HDD enclosure lying around, which I could easily hook up to my Wii. I used to think their main concern is, they don't want to let you buy something, stick it on a hard drive, then use it on somebody else's Wii. I don't think that's really an issue, though, since I think all the VC downloads are encrypted against a unique key from your console, so I don't know what the hold-up actually is...

7. About the SD cards, i believe there is a maximum of what the Wii can read, about 2 Gigs. It can't read anything higher than that, meaning any kind of high capacity SD card is a no-go. And, unless I'm mistaken, there seems to be a minimum too. I tried a 16 MB, you know, one of that just comes with a camera, and it did not work.

It would be good if they just opened up the USB 2.o ports for use with flash drives and such, at least, if they plan on expanding downloadables like they are.
