Halo 3 tourney aims to 'Finish the Fight' against breast cancer

Usually, that $5 or $10 entry into the campus Halo tournament ends up funding one of two things: a frat party's Natty Light Beer Pong Extravaganza (togas optional), or a super fan's commission of a Master Chief oil painting from the quirky, "she's funny" art major he wishes could be more than a friend. However, there are more philanthropic options out there that combine shotguns and plasma rifles with medical research and saving lives.

We're talking about The Cavegirls Present: Fight Like a Girl, the Halo 3 tournament where all the proceeds go to fight breast cancer. Taking place on October 20, the only requirements beyond owning a copy of the game, and having an Xbox Live Gold account, is forking over the $10 entry fee.

As an added bonus, part of the rules include a no-asshole policy: "trash talking, racial slurs, sexist remarks, and other insulting comments" can constitute a DQ. Helping out a good cause and insurance the people you're playing with aren't the normal Live plebes? Sounds good to us.

good stuff
A very noble idea. I'm in.

Even if I do die every 0.7 seconds, at least I know that the charity wins in the end. That's good enough for me!

Breast cancer cured in 5-9 hours depending on difficulty?
whoever thought of this is a genius.

the geeky nerdy Halo players can give free breast exams, they will once in thier lives get to feel breasts.

hmmm so I help fight breast cancer and play Halo?
Sounds better than Folding...

wait, are there no slurs allowed? what will the children do? How will they play Halo without saying "that was so gay" every three seconds?

Hmmmnn, maybe this is my chance to play Halo without listening to the infants and their gaybashing... count me in!

Hey now, there's nothing wrong with some trash talk; it's when the slurs, swearing, etc. are added that it becomes a problem.

They bar sexist comments, and yet they named their own event "Fight Like a Girl"...

Of course, you could say it's essentially accurate, because they're girls. I suppose that excuses other comments, because it's also entirely possible to be "on the rag" or "have sand in your vagina".

Everyone is welcome to sign up! Tons of people have been signing up and there are only a certain number of slots available!

We did this last year in Halo2 and this tournament has already doubled the amount raised last year! Please join us!

This is stupid. Call me greedy, but no prize?

I don't have breasts. I have Halo Skills. And while I'm all for charity, why does it have to be some feminist based nonsense? Breast cancer is not even close to the leading cause of women's sickness. Janet Reno just needs to check herself a bit.

Why not run this on heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in women, not to mention a top killer in men.

The point is, without a prize, I'll give no support. If I wanted to help breast cancer, I'd start on those pink lids. Yogurt is more fun than Halo3 anywayz.

In closing:
How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb?
Technically none, because feminism never actually changed anything. ^_^
