The combat appears to be Devil May Cry meets God of War, with that still-nagging frame rate hiccup in there. Legal entanglement questions regarding the Unreal Engine 3 aside, we're hoping to speak with Silicon Knights and finally get some hands-on time with Too Human by GDC in February. If we can actually play it this time around, we'll know it's close to being released.

Mass Effect shits all over this. And you know what? It didn't take a forever to make it.
From Wiki:
Too Human is a third-person action adventure role playing game mixing elements of games like Devil May Cry and Diablo. It features twitch gameplay in the form of fast paced melee and ranged combat while also maintaining deep RPG elements including skill tree progression and dungeon crawling.

It's early. Maybe it'll get better.
If this is early then what's late? 2015? If this doesn't come out until 2015 all the 'futuristic' stuff in the game will look dated. I mean, who needs a cyber sword and a gruff bearded viking pal when we're flying on Hoverboards(TM), jacking into the Matrix using a 'retro' PS2 brain-case-mod and having our daily food pill rations teleported into our stomachs from central command?

Now with that out of the way, let me say this - I don't understand what the big deal about Too Human is. I've played hundreds of games with the same style of play. The graphics don't look particularly impressive. And frankly, I'm a bit put off by the dev's complaining so much about Unreal Engine 3 when other studios have created games like Bioshock without any huge problems.
So could someone explain why this game gets so much coverage?

Each time something is seen of the game, the developer's just seem to be blowing their own horn a little too much. Especially like I said, it was announced relatively close to the launch of the system.
1. Developer Silicon Knights is highly regarded in the video game community. They created the original Legacy of Kain game (Blood Omen:Legacy of Kain), Eternal Darkness, and Metal Gear Solid:The Twin Snakes, which is an excellent Gamecube remake of the original Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation.
2. The story for Too Human seemed pretty epic. Spanning a trilogy, the plot is heavily based upon Norse Mythology.
I was originally really excited for this title, but because of the constant delays I eventually took off my reservation of the title. That does not mean I won't buy it, but unless it gets great ratings, I'm going to pass.
Which would be a shame, because if this game fails it will be a commercail failure on the scale of E.T., Psychonauts and Shenmue. For some reason, I could easily see this game flopping, or at the very least not getting back its massive production costs.
No?
Well, Too Human is the 360's Malice.
I believe the real reason was Denis Dyack's rather loud talk about how his $80 million game would be the standard going forward and that the focus of the industry would be on monstrously expensive - and therefore monstrously successful production values. He then talked about how he'd been raised from birth by Miyamoto and Kojima, and how it was a shame Nintendo didn't see things their way.
Or something like that.

Though I totally agree Marty. Kid was stupid.
Some of the cut scenes were crap, and I'm really not into beat 'em ups, but there were a number of shots that looked like they will be quite beautiful in HD, such as the shot where there is the spinning orb in the background. The vast interiors look like they'll be pretty nice. Also, the models of the bad guys looked really complex.
I'm not terribly excited by this game, but the negativity I read about seems strange. I hope they release this video on Live so I can see it in HD.

HOWEVER, is it just me or does the entire scale of that game look off? I mean, your character looks like a miniature in the environment. Everything around you is SO big its laughable. Unless you are constantly in places where 50 foot giants live. Take another look at the trailer and you'll see what I mean.

PSO kicked ass. PSU was Phantasy Star Online without the fun
If this was a PS3 only game, it would be labeled as a "button masher".

This game started on the original PLAYSTATION as a matter of fact, and was originally some futuristic cop/noir along the lines of Blade Runner. Your character was some bald-headed guy named John Franks. Look it up.
Then it migrated to the Gamecube, where it was then made into some geno-drama, and no one knew what the HELL the game was about.
Now it's (supposedly) hitting the 360, and it's Norse mythology???
This is a case of a developer having a pet project (Mr. Dyak, I'm looking at you) and not being able to either:
A) Let go, because it just isn't going to work
B) Can't leave well enough alone, because he feels his professional reputation is at stake
Personally, I think this game smacks of design by committee and has so many bells and whistles that it has no hope of being anything better than an "also-ran".

When Gears, Mass Effect, and Too Human were all shown at the same time I was like, "Enough with the Space Marines already!!!!"
Gears turned out to be awesome, and Mass Effect is Bioware and I love them, but I think I'll draw the line here. Enough already with completely generic space and super buff emotionless lead characters. God I'm sick of it.
Is there no one in the game industry who knows how to be original... oh wait I already have Bioshock....

You can easily find a game with the lead character not being buff, an Squeenix game for example.
Maybe i'm one of the few that isn't bored of games yet and still enjoy playing them, despite already playing something similar to that before.

Personally, I think the art is very stylized, and it seems very engaging. I hope it turns out well. Out of their GameCube offerings, I have not been disappointed.
