Nintendo flaunts mega-sized Wii and DS release list

Did someone say something about a lack of third-party support? Nintendo is eager to dispell that notion – or perhaps they simply feel bad about delaying Smash Bros. Brawl – but, regardless, they've released an enormous list of games coming to the Wii and DS platforms. Nintendo's George Harrison (is he still working there?) crowed, "Because of Wii and Nintendo DS momentum, third-party publishers are supporting our systems like never before." We don't know how much we'd brag about a history of poor third-party support but the list – conveniently contained after the break – shows off many of the releases planned through early 2008.

Notable inclusions: The long-rumored Assassin's Creed for Nintendo DS, the Japanese imports Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day and Master of Illusion, and the soon-to-be-blockbuster Elf Bowling (Collector's Edition no less). Alright, so this is a really big list, so let's use the power of numbers to defeat it! Anything really important we're missing?

For all you kids complaining about nothing coming out on the Wii this year, there ya go.

Thats the problem, 95% of that Wii list is for ADHD kids who can only concentrate for 5 minutes and where waggle is as much complexity that they can handle.

Kids will have no problem with the list. It's the adults who aren't going to find anything interesting. Manhunt is like the only M rated game. Why aren't they bringing Bully over to Wii? Seems like a perfect fit as ps2 ports are all the rage on Wii these days.

They are bringing Bully to the Wii and 360.

When? Who the Hell knows. It was announced, though.

It does give me hope that there's games worth buying on the Wii in comparison to the other two consoles. Such as the following:

Trauma Center: New Blood
NiGHTS (still debating it)
Nitrobike (hopefully it has custom soundtrack like ExciteTruck...)
Soul Calibur Legends
Super Smash Bros Brawl (a *must have* for all Wii owners)
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity (a rental, at least)
No More Heroes
Mario Kart Wii

...sure, there's a bunch I could've listed, but I'll take the regular gamepad'ed version on PS3/X360 than waggly-Wii style, IMO(which I still don't think 3rd Party publishers have understood usage of; but that's just an observation, not complaint). Though I am annoyed at the lack of custom soundtrack playback, seeing as how I bought the 2GB SD card for that and extended memory to cover the weaksauce amount Nintendo put on the console.

Off the top of my head PC is getting the most love followed by 360, then By PS3, Wii has 1 game before the year is out and its Mario.

If it weren't for the superrior online there would be more PS3 titles than 360 counting multiplatforms.

I was surprised as hell that the PC had the most releases between now and next year that I was buying.

Theyll have to wipe out both of us. This is a shameful list. My Wii is about to get sold. All kids games and no substance. Hell, I'm even losing interest in Mario Galaxy.

Hanna Montana?! Disney Princess?! Furu Furu Park?!

Looks like I will be waiting til January to buy another Wii game. If it lasts that long on my TV stand.

Actually, Furu Furu Park looks kinda cool, I think.

Although, like Sonic & The Secret Rings, I suspect I might be alone on that one.

Hope you sold your DS too, because it gets just as much kid fare.

And your PS2, because it got/is getting all those same types of games as well.

If you're not excited by Mario Galaxy, Trauma Center 2, GH3 (which looks to be best on Wii, online play aside), Tomb Raider Anniversary, Ghost Squad, DDR, NiGHTS, and Soul Calibur Legends, then there's something wrong with you, and you're no real gamer at all.

ok Crono...

"Hope you sold your DS too, because it gets just as much kid fare."

Yes, that is EXACTLY the reason I just sold mine, even tho New Super mario Bros was fun, and so was Castlevania, Advance Wars, and EBA and Ouendan, somehow they didn't have that much replayability like my old gba games or believe it or not my PSP games (Im still playing Fire Emblem Blazing Sword, THUG2 Remix and Twisted Metal) and I did try other games like MP:H (AWFUL!) Mario kart (They should have made a sequel to double dash, the normal karts are getting boring)..

"And your PS2, because it got/is getting all those same types of games as well."

Yes, but out of my mind, an educated guess of the amount of A,B, & C quality games would be 30 to 40%, instead teh DS is getting craptastic games (Fast fact: out of 1481 games, the PS2 has 514 games that scored 75+ (34.71%), the DS with 350 games, has 75 games that scored 75+ (24.59%), and the PSP with 322 games, has 99 games that scored 75+ (30.75%))

"If you're not excited by Mario Galaxy, Trauma Center 2, GH3 (which looks to be best on Wii, online play aside), Tomb Raider Anniversary, Ghost Squad, DDR, NiGHTS, and Soul Calibur Legends, then there's something wrong with you, and you're no real gamer at all."

No, Mario is boring, I loved Mario 64, Shiggy is great, but the ideas that have been shown thus far make it just another platform game, the only thing that differs it from other games on its same genre is the Wiimote, so yah, I ll pass.

GH3 on the Wii looks the best? Nintendo recommended you use the strap for your Wiimote, so you don't keep hitting your head with it and hallucinate like you are right now.

I already played Tomb Raider Anniversary on my PS2, so yah :]

NiGHTS? are you serious? the whole point of it was to take FULL advantage of the motion sensing, which it did not....disappointment from all the fans of the Saturn NiGHTS...

SC Legends....you...are kidding...right? SC is amazing (still like Tekken more tho >__>;) are the only interesting ones...

You guys who are complaining need to just sell your Wii already. You can make your money back (and probably a profit). If you change your mind later (after xmas) you can buy it again, maybe even for cheaper or bundled with a better game (Mario?).

Otherwise you have enough money to buy at least 4 good next-gen (read:$60) games. Let's see:
BioShock
Halo
Orange Box
Mass Effect

Then maybe you'll have something to play for the rest of the year and it will save us from all your comments bitching about the fastest selling system ever.

megaStryke, Im ok with you, just because I respect anyone with a rockman avatar, lol

let's go over your list:

can play that game too!

"Haze - What's this all about anyway? Another FPS?"

The same guys that made what is considered the best FPS on a Nintendo console, Rare, well, the masterminds behind it are the ones that moved on and became Free Radical....so yah, they ARE good

"Assassin's Creed - Ooooooh! Prince of Persia clone."

Yah, it is, but its PoP 2.0! this time with the church on your side!

"Unreal Tournament III - Please, the PC will have the best version of them all."

That isn't a good argument...many ppl can't afford a PC to run UT3, while the DS and Wii are something that you can just buy anytime you want (Believe me, Im not rich, and even I can afford it lol)

"Uncharted - No one will buy it."

Are you serious? These guys made Crash, Jack & Daxter....both have become great franchises...and they are one of the most critically acclaimed developers out there right now....

"LittleBigPlanet - Looks gayer than gay."

so? gay pride! (NOTE: IM NOT GAY, ASK MY GF AND SHE LL MAKE IT CLEAR) nah, the game is ...argh...hate to use the word cute, but yah...do you remember the escene on Shrek when they meet Puss in Boots?

"Home - Hi there, Second Life! Booooooring!"

We were tlaking about games...how did Home even made it there? did I miss the news in which Home is announced as a game?

"Eye of Judgment - Magic: the Gathering with a gimmicky camera."

So? that is exactly what ANY trading card gamer has ever dreamed off, being able to see the cards, effects, attacks, its just great, Im dead serious....go to those TCG tournaments...

"Viva Piñata: Party Animals - Lame mini-games."

No comments, I watched the show to make my lil brother fall asleep...I hate it, its right next to teletubbies and barney

"Scene It! - Lame casual fluff."

I don't like it either...

"Rock Band - LOLOLOLOL! No one is going to drop over $150 when GHIII is available!"

Rock Band is and will be more entertaining than GH3, there is more variety and that will help a lot with replayability too

"I love acting like a douche!"

Me too!

Look. I have a Wii. Believe me, I want to love it.

I hate rhythm games, so that takes out DDR and GH3. Trauma Center was not fun for me, the story was terrible, I couldnt help getting pissed off while skipping through the idiotic and long winded story.
Tomb Raider Anniversary is played out, I liked Tomb Raider when it was young, but I'm tired of the same. Nights looks too kid oriented with all the flashy colors, purples, pinks etc. Soul Caliber legends could very well be good but I'm not too sure about having a non-fighting game Soul Calibur, I mean, I never played Soul Calibur for its story, so why would I want to listen to those terrible voice overs trying to get me involved in a game. But, its all speculation, the question was, am I excited for it and sadly, I am not.

Then that leaves Mario Galaxy. Yes, Mario, the game that started the console craze. I, like most of you love this little idiot. But Sunshine was horrible. I mean absolutely one of the worst experiences that I have ever had gaming. It was only this extreme because it IS mario and its SUPPOSED to be awesome, and it wasnt. :( So I am not getting my hopes up about this one. Maybe when it comes out and it starts getting 9's and 10's I'll get excited. But I'm not going to put myself through that letdown again.

"then there's something wrong with you, and you're no real gamer at all."

I'm glad that you "master gamer of gamer gods" can judge who is a gamer and who is not. If we were not gamers, we would not be on this site arguing about nerdy shit like this.

For what its worth, I like games of substance like MGS, Ninja Gaiden, Bioshock, Doom 3, FFVII, PGR, Forza, GT, GTA, Fable, Oblivion etc. etc. One thing all of those games have in common: They are not kids games.

But you can have fun being a "real" gamer playing Guitar Hero, Nights and Dance Dance Revolution.

Wait wait wait – you think there's substance in PGR, Forza and Gran Turismo but not NiGHTS?!

I didnt know youve played nights?!!? I want to come check it out! How did you get it so early!??!

All kidding aside,
Just because racing games dont have a story does not mean it doesnt have substance. Substance is a game that is meaty with plenty of original content to enjoy for long periods of time, something I have not had on the Wii except for Zelda and Metroid (ports)

You guys propping Niiiiiights up like its some freakin return of frekin Jesus.. are going to be so dissappointed when it comes out. Like most wii games its going to be a sloppy port from DC.

The only good thing with nights is that it doesnt have motion kontrols

Metroid isn't a port and you know it.
And I'm assuming NiGHTS has substance since it's apparently staying true to the original, which many found to be a very substantive game, as per your definition (which I agree with).

Yeah, I may be wrong about Metroid being a port, it just looked like GC graphics so I assumed....but I digress.

Nights just doesnt get me excited because of the visual style. It just looks like it should be played by 10 year olds, you know what I mean? Im 24, that stuff doesnt interest me, this is why Im regretting the fact that I got a Wii to begin with.

Samfish, you're not alone! I liked Sonic and the Secret Rings!

JL, how the hell is Metroid a port? It was built from the ground up for the Wii, and showcased the best FPS controls on the system so far! And have fun avoiding games made "just for kids." Guess who's the target demographic for all your favorite M-rated games? You think they're over 17? More like 13-20. And guess what, I can have fun with Guitar Hero 3, DDR, AND Manhunt 2 and No More Heroes!

Shagi, my mom whited you out last night!

Hey Noshino, here is Metacritic's list of 1,481 PS2 games:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/ps2/scores/

So you say 30 - 40% of them are quality games? That's between 444.3 and 592.4 quality games on one system. I don't even think 444.3 quality games have been made EVER! Over 90% of all games suck, no matter what system you're discussing. Get over it. The PS2 was awesome. We know that. When the same shitstorm of crappy 3rd party development (littered with gems) comes to the Wii, you can't pretend that the Wii's getting 100% shit and the PS2 only got 60 - 70% shit.

Man this thread rules. I can't wait until I can get back to the internet in like 5 hours and see what's become of it.

Ha. Yeah, I still have friends over to drink and bowl from time to time.

Rubang: I already admitted I was wrong about the port thing. Its just the graphics looked GCish so I thought it was a port. No biggie, just because its a port doesnt mean its bad anyways. Zelda was awesome.

"And guess what, I can have fun with Guitar Hero 3, DDR, AND Manhunt 2 and No More Heroes!"

You have fun with that.
manhunt 2 is going to have to wait for reviews. Im not excited. No More Heroes intrigued me at first, but the whole "Travis Touchdown" and all that stuff....yeah...weird. Once again, wait for reviews.

DDR and GH3=rhythm games with special controllers=no thank you. MY OPINION.

What the hell man. The wii sucks this year without smash bros. I only see two good games on that list, but nothing that I want.

Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour
High School Musical: Sing It
Bratz: The Movie

Someone shoot me now. For gods sake, someone please end my miseries.
